The human mind is full of the wildest thoughts, from doubts and questions to determination and curiosity. These traits allowed humans to evolve into what we are today and superior on earth when it comes to living, learning and growing.
Despite our brains look like the exact same, our thoughts and conclusions vary a lot from person from person. If two people go through the same traumatic event, one might learn from it and become stronger, and the other might not see it as a lesson to be learned and takes longer to recover.
Everyone knows how to become stronger physically. Eat healthy food and exercise a few times a week and you’ll see the results in no time.
But how does one become stronger mentally? That’s not as easy.
I believe we become stronger mentally as we set goals and make progress towards those goals. It can be anything, from starting a business, getting fit, helping the people in the community or live a happy life with your family. The important thing is to have a purpose in life and work for it.
So, to help you out understanding your own mind I’m going to tell you about the 5 Basic Pillars our mind relies on. Try to evaluate yourself in those 5 categories on a scale from 1 to 10. If you have something bellow 7, you know that’s what you have to work on to improve your mental strength.
Let’s get right into it.
1 – Emotional
This pillar has to do with how you feel about life and yourself. Are you the type of person you wanted to be? How do you feel about the world? What can you do to improve yourself and how can you make an impact on society?
2 – Intellectual
The intellectual pillar is about how often is your mind challenged? It’s through challenge that we grow. Are you learning new things? How well do you understand the world around you?
3 – Physical
Mind and body are always connected. With a weak and unhealthy body, you might get some desiases that could have been easily avoided if you just ate healthy foods and take a walk on weekends. You probably have to live in that body for the rest of your life, so take good care of it!
4 – Relationships
The relationship pillar has three sub-segments called familial, romantic and social. It’s how well feel and interact with those closest to you; your family, your partner and your friends.
5 – Finance
The Finance pillar has to do with what you do for a living. Does your job and career fulfill you? Do you have your finances in check or are you living paycheck to paycheck every month? Are you dependent on someone else to make a living? If so, does that make you feel unease?
All these five pillars are interconnected. If any of these five pillars fail, they’ll affect the others and bring down your overall happiness. Try to improve the pillars you scored lower and keep balance between all five. It may help to make a list of what you can do to improve each one.
