The Importance of Innovation

The desire to create and invent is the foundation of the human beings. Curiosity and ingenuity is what made us evolve from the Australopithecus to the Homo sapiens we are today.

We always had to innovate new ways to hunt, to store food, to build houses, forms of transport, buildings and businesses.

Innovation is what drives us forward, but nowadays our creativity is being suppressed. When we are kids we are told that we can be whatever we want in life, astronauts, scientists, musicians… but as we grow we the speech changes and people tell us that we should go to college and find a safe job and safe for retirement. Follow the conventional way of life is what we are though at schools.

But for those who start businesses must now cultivate a culture that empowers people to think outside the box and nutrish creative thinking. Any business that is looking to stay ahead of competition must keep coming up with fresh ideas and good ideas will have the side effect of increasing employee satisfaction.

Check out this post on How to Gain an Edge and Stay Ahead of the Competition.

When you innovate, you’ve got to be prepared for everyone telling you you’re nuts.

Larry Ellison

One of todays most innovative companies is Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Unlike other space programs, SpaceX is developing reusable rockets to place commercial satellites in orbit, and they have plans for some time in the future to carry manned missions to Mars.

Elon Musk has a passion for doing things others only dream about. But you shouldn’t do things differently just because they’re different, you should do it different and better. Think beyond the normal and have an environment that encourages and rewards that sort of thinking, but also it should be ok to fail because when you try new things some of them will fail.

I really believe that innovation pushes us forward and that’s one of my goal with this blog, to inspire and help people achieve more.

Now tell me…

How innovative is your company?

Thank you for reading, see you on the next one.
